We looked around for a good, "no-frills", inexpensive SWR meter and couldn't find any that were made in the U.S. with the features we wanted (high power handling, accurate, sturdy, tip-resistant, good looking). So we made our own, and now you can too! The HM-17 requires only 3 hours to build, costs less than $100, and will provide years of use. Looks great too! Handles as little as 1W and as much as 1KW CW. Meter shows VSWR up to 3:1 and reflected power in percent. All point-to-point wiring; no PC boards! Screwed-on rubber feet won't come off like stick-on feet, and they help keep it from sliding, too. Rugged extruded aluminum case stands up to abuse, and the front-weighted design helps keep the unit from flipping up when coax is attached. Requires no AC or DC power.
